Ozone Injection Therapy

Dr. Rucker injecting Ozone in a patient's arm
Probably the most common question we are hear about Ozone Injection Therapy is, "What exactly is Ozone Injection Therapy?".  Ozone Injection Therapy is an alternative therapy that increases the amount of cellular oxygen in the body via the introduction of ozone into muscles, ligaments, and joints.  Unlike the healthy cells that thrive in oxygen, disease causing bacteria (i.e. viruses, parasites, and fungi) are mostly anaerobic and are not be able to survive in high oxygen environments.

Medical oxygen-ozone injection therapy has been used in Europe for many years to relieve neck and back pain, and is gaining traction here in the States as a minimally invasive alternative to surgery for the treatment of chronic pain.  Recent literature has shown ozone injection therapy is extremely safe and has been shown to be very effective as a non surgical alternative disc treatment.  In one recent study "around two-thirds of patients who had ozone injected said it relieved the pain caused by disc problems'.

The next question of course is how does the procedure work and how many visits does it take?  That really depends on the severity of the injury and how that individual person's body responds to the treatment.  We have seen as little as one injection being effective to numerous injections being required.  Significant decrease in pain occurs in the three to seven day time frame.  That is the typical window of time Dr. Rucker utilizes to ascertain whether future injections will be needed.

Who would benefit from this treatment?  We have successfully treated Professional Athletes, Amateur Athletes, Auto Injures, and Chronic Injuries to name a few.  The variety of uses is seemingly endless and the therapy is often extremely effective.
